Abessina in Goettingen

Very tasty, reasonably priced, friendly service and delivery in a completely appropriate framework for good food (1 hour when ordering for a family of five) in mostly sustainable packaging. One of our best ordering experiences since the first lockdown in March.

The Abessina can only be recommended. I love the food! You can eat vegetarian, vegan or meat dishes - everyone, however he / she likes. The operators are very nice and always up for a little joke. The atmosphere is also great, even if the decoration is a bit cheesy in places, but that's part of it.

So delicious!!! The food is insanely good and filling. Everyone will find something here from vegan gourmets. The staff is super polite and attentive. Very nice. You definitely have to stop by here often. You definitely have to make a reservation as it is popular with visitors. Although all the seats were occupied, it was easy to chat because the volume level was really great.

Everything about the food and the service really fits here. We were there with two families and had the vegetarian and the normal menu. Both were great value for money. The owner is extremely accommodating and explained every meal. You can also sit in the courtyard and on the street in summer. The toilets are not that great and difficult to reach for people with disabilities.

Very pleasant atmosphere, original decoration. Food was delicious, something completely different. The pineapple beer was very delicious. We received a very friendly welcome. We'd love to come back again.

Super delicious food, a little different from what you are used to. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant, especially the coffee ceremony is worthwhile. Overall I can only recommend it. I will definitely come more often or use the delivery service during Corona (fast, friendly and uncomplicated).

Delicious! Definitely try the Ethiopian beer there, it's worth it for the presentation alone. In a time when more and more chains are appearing in small towns like Göttingen, I am all the more pleased to go to such authentic and delicious restaurants. Absolute recommendation

Very friendly staff and wonderful delicious food which you will not find anywhere else in Göttingen! Unfortunately a star deduction for the really long waiting time of over an hour for the meal. Everything else is fantastic! Gladly again

Had the mixed platter for 2 with meat. It was an experiment for us, but it was really worth it. It was varied and everything just tasted very good. Very attentive waiter, not the fastest, but on request we got some background information about the meal. Definitely a visit despite the current situation with Corona. Price-performance ratio was right too! We will definitely be back.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the menu has English translation in it and there are many vegan options. Will come again!

Very disappointing: I called at 7 to ask if they had a table at 8. I explained that we are in a hurry and would only have 45min to eat and asked if that was possible? The restaurant manager said if we order straight away we would manage with the time and we should be there at 8. When we arrived he didn’t have a table and he said he hoped we would come later. It’s a bad customer service to tell people to come if you don’t have a table, especially since I explained we would have only 45 min!

The food is pretty good, but service is extremely slow (one has usually to wait for about half an hour to get the drinks and about more than an hour for food) and quite chaotic at times.

1.5h since we entered. No food, no apologies, no even a snack. We'll never again

Best place in Goettingen. The staff is very nice. I would recommend booking in advance. The place is packed, even on weekdays.

Top quality food and service. Recommended if you want to try something nice and different. It takes time to bring the food, though. And it can get crowded, so better book a table in advance ;)

Very good food , the vegetarian dishes were really tasty , being an Indian, i could really taste the similarity of most of the dishes served.service was good and overall a nice experience .

Food is ok. Does only accept German bank cards and cash, so keep that in mind when going here.

Love the whole vibe of the restaurant, small cozy and very homely environment! The food is delicious, love the Ethiopian delicacies, and absolutely enjoyed the drink that was served on bowl- so traditional!!

Not a bad place, the prices are average. Mint tea - it's just a couple of fresh mint leaves filled with boiling water)) Very original beer delivery) In the kitchen: interesting, but we did not eat for two persons. Maybe very hungry were easy))

Very cozy and homey feel to it. The food was delicious and something unusual for the area. You'll get some basic(s) like thin bread, rice, etc and a selection of different sauces. They offer a variety of flavors, none of which I disliked. The best part was when they started to roast some coffee by the fire. Best smell ever.

Very Good Food, they serve Halal meat and chicken, alcoholic beverages are available as well. The restaurant is run by a family, they are very friendly, they will go ahead and explain every dish, the composition and what's special about it. It's cheap, the quality to price ratio is very good. Ask them for their recommended dish, I bet you'll like it.

Drove from Braunshweig and it was totally worth it. The food and service are amazing. Sehr schnell service (friendly service team). Definitely coming back. I highly recommend Abessina!

I would give them 10 if I could! The staff is incredibly adorable, friendly, and fun. The food is rich in flavor, and the injera you order when you run out of your first portion is free! The presentation of the food is nice as well, the ambiente is super comfy, and i am running out of praise. because it's so good that there is not much to say, really. it's an experience to be had! my girlfriend and i moved away to berlin, just came home from eating at another Ethiopian restaurant, and we miss Abessina sorely. we're thinking about going back just for one date night there. damn. if you're in Göttingen, or Kassel, or anywhere nearby: mcfriggin eat there, i swear to god. it's not the cheapest, but for the quality of the food, the service, and the mood in there, it's worth it twice over. the only thing i regret leaving behind in Göttingen

Very good food! I know people that come from Hanover to Göttingen to eat in this restaurant. The only downside is that they can be a bit slow at busy times
